Chili always said this painting marked a significant moment in how he portrayed his skies. "With this piece, I figured out how to create intensity of light. The image is of a sunset I saw near Rainbow Lake in Whistler, BC, when I went camping with a group of friends overnight."

Until his untimely death from cancer in 2016 at age 40, Chili lived in British Columbia’s Coast Mountains and pulled artistic inspiration from his time spent exploring the mountains, forests, and coastline of his home.
